Under the management of the Assam Athletics Association and organized by the Nalbari District Sports Association, a grand national-level athletics competition will be held at the Sarihatoli Sports Complex in Nalbari starting from June 6. The events scheduled for organization include the National Inter-District Athletics Championship (NIDAM), an International Federation Technical Officials (FTO) Camp, and Under-14 and Under-16 Youth (Boys-Girls) Selection Championships.
Athletes below 20 years of age from across India will participate in this high-profile competition. Over 120 track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m sprints, will be held for both male and female categories.
Athletes from various states have already begun arriving in Nalbari to participate. According to Nipon Das, the Joint Secretary of the Assam Athletics Association and supervisor of the venue, track marking work is already underway at the Sarihatoli Stadium for the event. Olympian Uladzimir Dubrouski from Belarus, who competed in the Discus Throw at the Olympics, has arrived in Nalbari to oversee the technical preparations. He has already inspected the venue and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work.
To manage the competition smoothly, a high-powered management committee has been formed with Nalbari District Sports Association President Gajajyoti Das as the President, Assam Athletics Association General Secretary Bubul Talukdar and local MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah as General Advisors, and Gajajyoti Das as the Organizing Committee President. Additionally, Ajit Singh and Kavita Das have been selected as Joint Organizing Secretaries, while Narakanta Borah has been appointed as the Treasurer.
A powerful management committee consisting of over 100 members from Nalbari has been formed to execute the event. Furthermore, 30 volunteers will be deployed to assist.
Notably, this is the first time a national-level athletics competition of this scale is being hosted in Nalbari, a milestone that has generated immense enthusiasm among local sports enthusiasts.
To ensure the technical precision of the competition, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has appointed Vivekananda Patra as the Competition Director, Nipon Das as the Technical Director, and several executive officials from the Assam Athletics Association, including Satyavrata Gogoi, Working President Dharani Boro, Nalbari Sports Association General Secretary Bubul Talukdar, Joint Secretary Swarth Pratim Laskar, Vice Presidents Babu Singh and Devajit Goswami, Assistant Secretary Jayanta Malla, T-U19 Joint Secretary Aman Barman, T-U17 Joint Secretary Sanatan Sharma, Hemanta Barman, Sukumar Sarma, and Nisanta Mishra, to manage the event.
The management committee of the competition has earnestly requested the presence, cooperation, and support of the sports-loving citizens of Nalbari to make the event a grand success.
