Senior Union ministers has welcomed the formation of the third NDA government in Assam and said the new administration led by Himanta Biswa Sarma would further accelerate development, improve governance and strengthen infrastructure across the state. The oath-taking ceremony was held in Guwahati in the presence of Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers and NDA leaders from different parts of the country. Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Himanta Biswa Sarma and members of the new council of ministers. Along with Sarma, BJP leaders Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, AGP president Atul Bora and BPF MLA Charan Boro also took oath as ministers in the new government. After the ceremony, several Union ministers congratulated the chief minister and expressed confidence that Assam would witness rapid development during the NDA government’s new term. Union Health Minister JP Nadda said the “double-engine government” under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership had given a new direction to Assam’s development, governance and cultural identity.
“I am fully confident that the NDA government will continue to work tirelessly for Assam’s transformation, progress and prosperity,” Nadda said in a post on X. He added that the government would continue working towards the vision of a “Developed Assam” alongside a “Developed India”. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari described the beginning of the new term as “a new chapter of growth and transformative development” for the state. He said the BJP’s third consecutive victory in Assam reflected the trust people had placed in the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the NDA government. Gadkari also announced that infrastructure projects worth nearly Rs 2 lakh crore were currently planned for Assam. According to him, the Centre remained committed to building a stronger and more modern state with better roads, connectivity and development projects. Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal termed the swearing-in ceremony a “historic and proud day” for Assam. The former chief minister said he was deeply moved by the support and enthusiasm shown by people during the event.
Sonowal said the NDA government would continue focusing on development, peace and prosperity while protecting the rights and interests of indigenous communities in Assam.Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan also congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma and said the people of Assam had once again supported the politics of development, good governance and national interest. “The state will continuously achieve new heights of development,” Paswan said while wishing the chief minister a successful tenure. Responding to the wishes, Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the visiting chief ministers, deputy chief ministers and Union ministers who attended the ceremony. He said their presence reflected the unity and strength of the NDA alliance. “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries who joined the swearing-in ceremony of the third NDA government in Assam like one family and extended their best wishes,” Sarma said.
