Mohammed Shami Not Thinking About Retirement yet . He has been away from the Indian team since the Champions Trophy due to injury, has finally broken his silence. Although he has taken 67 wickets for BCCI across formats, he has remained out of national selection for a long time. The 35-year-old pacer has clarified that he is not currently thinking about retirement. Before starting his campaign in the current season, the pacer spoke about his cricketing life. This time, he is playing for the Lucknow Super Giants after being signed in the auction from Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Addressing the rumors, Shami said “I will take the decision on the day cricket becomes a burden to me. At this moment, there is no such thing. This is a completely personal matter. Such talk-and-chatter only discourages a player. Retirement comes to mind only when a player feels exhausted or loses interest in the subject. I am still enjoying the game. I want to leave the field with a positive mindset.”
It is noteworthy that he was the highest wicket-taker in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. During that tournament, he played through injury to achieve that feat.
Shami explicitly denies any plans to retire, stating he still enjoys the game. His move to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
He emphasizes that retirement is a personal choice that should only be made when the sport feels like a “burden.”
