Assam Plans Shakira Concert Following Post Malone Performance

On Monday evening, American singer-rapper Post Malone is set to perform in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone for the city as it seeks to establish itself within the global entertainment scene. Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed this event as historic, stating it places Guwahati on the world music map. He also expressed aspirations to host a concert featuring iconic singer-songwriter Shakira in the forthcoming years, noting previous discussions to bring her to Assam in February were canceled due to high costs and logistical challenges.

The state government is actively supporting the concert organization by BookMyShow, focusing on logistics and security, as part of a broader initiative to enhance the concert economy. As of now, approximately 20,000 tickets have been sold for Post Malone’s performance, which is notable for being his inaugural solo show in India, with around 7,000 attendees expected to travel from outside Assam, including 4,000 fans from beyond the Northeast region.
