Thai Monks Visit Margherita to Spread Teachings of Lord Buddha

The visit, which drew hundreds of devotees from across the region, was marked by a series of special prayer sessions and “Dhamma” discourses. The Thai monks emphasized that in an era often defined by conflict, the path of compassion and mindfulness is more essential than ever. Dressed in traditional saffron robes, the monks led a peaceful procession through the monastery grounds, chanting sacred hymns that resonated with the themes of brotherhood and coexistence.

The Margherita Buddha Vihar, a prominent center for Theravada Buddhism in Upper Assam, served as the perfect backdrop for this international exchange. Local religious leaders noted that such visits strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Thailand. The monks shared their insights on the “Forest Tradition” of Thailand, encouraging practitioners to find inner peace as a first step toward achieving external harmony in society.

As the event concluded, the Thai delegation offered blessings to the local community and distributed literature on Buddhist philosophy. The visit has been hailed by local residents as a rejuvenating experience that highlights Margherita’s significance on the global Buddhist map. This spiritual initiative serves as a reminder that the message of peace remains a universal language, bridging borders and bringing diverse cultures together under the banner of humanity.
