ShardaCare-Health city has expanded its presence in Northeast India with the launch of specialised Outpatient Department (OPD) services in Dibrugarh in association with Aziz Diagnostic & Hospital, aiming to improve access to advanced healthcare in Assam and neighbouring states. The initiative will provide specialist consultations in Neurology, Nephrology and Medical Oncology, reducing the need for patients to travel to metropolitan cities for expert evaluation and treatment planning. The OPD will be led by Dr. Atampreet Singh, Senior Director & Head, Neurosciences; Dr. Kunal Raj Gandhi, Director, Nephrology; and Dr. Anindya Mukherjee, Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology.
The launch comes amid rising cases of chronic and non-communicable diseases in the region. Chronic kidney disease affects an estimated 15-17 per cent of adults in India, while the Northeast continues to record some of the country’s highest incidence of oesophageal, stomach, liver and head and neck cancers. Stroke and other neurological disorders also remain significant public health concerns. The facility will offer specialist consultations, second opinions, treatment planning, follow-up care and referrals for advanced procedures whenever required. Speaking on the initiative, Group CEO Dr. Kousar Shah said the collaboration reflects the institution’s commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to patients by ensuring timely diagnosis, expert clinical guidance and continuity of care while reducing the burden of travel. The specialists also stressed the importance of early diagnosis and timely intervention in improving outcomes for neurological disorders, kidney diseases and cancer.
In Dibrugarh, the launch is expected to strengthen the city’s position as an emerging healthcare hub for Upper Assam. Patients from Dibrugarh and neighbouring districts, as well as nearby Arunachal Pradesh, are likely to benefit from easier access to super-speciality consultations locally, reducing travel costs and treatment delays while enhancing demand for quality healthcare services in the region. The OPD will operate at Aziz Diagnostic & Hospital, Dibrugarh, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, with nephrology consultations on every second Friday, medical oncology on every third Friday and neurosciences on every fourth Friday of the month.
