The nomination papers of 18 candidates of the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election has been found valid, a statement issued from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, informed on Friday.
Notably, 25 candidates had filed their nomination papers for the October 6 bypoll.
“The scrutiny of nomination papers for the bye-election of Nagaon HPC concluded today. Out of 25 candidates, the nomination papers of 18 candidates have been found valid,” the statement said.
Notably, the nomination papers of BJP candidate Devasish Sharma; AIUDF’s Badruddin Ajmal from AIUDF and Indian National Congress’ Sibamoni Bora was found valid.
All the candidates had filed their nomination papers on September 16, 2026.
The last date of withdrawal of candidatures is on Saturday (September 19, 2026).
