Nilima Devi’s induction reflects BJP’s focus on women’s representation in Assam Cabinet: Dilip Saikia

Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia has said the inclusion of Nilima Devi in the upcoming expansion of the Assam Cabinet reflects the party’s commitment to strengthening women’s participation in governance and decision-making.

Speaking in Guwahati ahead of the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday, Saikia said preparations have been completed for the induction of twelve ministers into the state cabinet. He said the expansion comes at a time when the government is continuing its efforts to accelerate development and improve governance across Assam under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Saikia stated that extensive arrangements have been made for the oath-taking ceremony, which is expected to be attended by ministers, party leaders, workers, supporters and representatives from different sections of society. He said the event marks an important development for the state government as it moves to further strengthen its administrative team.

According to the BJP leader, the ministers set to be inducted are experienced leaders who have made notable contributions in both public life and administrative responsibilities. He expressed confidence that their inclusion would help the government implement its development programmes more effectively and address the aspirations of people across the state.

Highlighting the induction of Nilima Devi from the Mangaldai region, Saikia said her appointment carries special significance as it enhances women’s representation in the state cabinet. He described her as a senior and dedicated party leader with considerable administrative experience and said she has worked extensively among the people over the years.

“The inclusion of Nilima Devi reflects the BJP’s commitment to ensuring greater participation of women in governance. Her experience and contribution will strengthen the government’s efforts and provide greater representation to women in the state’s decision-making process,” Saikia said.

He further noted that the development would serve as an encouragement for women across Assam and reaffirm the party’s commitment to creating more opportunities for women in public life, leadership roles and governance.

Saikia also thanked the people of Assam for the strong mandate given to the BJP-led government and said the cabinet expansion is aimed at further strengthening the administration to deliver on its promises.
