With Maddy Green scoring her third career century and pacer Rosemary Mair taking five wickets, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 66 runs in the third and final Women’s One Day International (ODI) on Saturday, winning the three-match series 2–1.
Green scored an unbeaten 141 runs off 128 balls, which is the highest score of her career.
She shared a record-breaking 211-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Brooke Halliday, rescuing New Zealand from an early collapse.
After being invited to bat first, New Zealand’s start was poor, losing three wickets for just three runs. However, thanks to the innings by Green and Halliday, they managed to reach a total of 306 for 7.
The Chase
In response, South Africa was bowled out for 240 runs in 46.1 overs.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt contributed 69 runs off 68 balls, and Anneke Bosch added 47 runs off 52 balls.
For New Zealand, Mair took 5 wickets for 50 runs, marking her career-best bowling figures. Amelia Kerr also took two wickets for 37 runs.
While South Africa won the first match by two wickets, New Zealand made a comeback by winning the second ODI by two wickets. Previously, New Zealand also won the five-match T20 International series between the two teams with a 4–1 margin.
