Aston Villa Stuns Liverpool 4-2, Secures Champions League Spot

Increasing the anxiety of defending champions Liverpool, Aston Villa has secured a place in the upcoming season’s Champions League. Playing at home on Friday night in an EPL match, Villa defeated the champions Liverpool by a margin of 4-2. With this victory, Aston Villa has climbed to the fourth spot in the standings with 62 points from 37 matches.
On the other hand, with 59 points, Liverpool faced the looming threat of being knocked out of the Champions League race. In Aston Villa’s victory, Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and John McGinn scored a goal each. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk pulled two goals back for Liverpool.
The cause of fear for fifth-placed Liverpool is Bournemouth. With two matches in hand, Bournemouth is currently on 55 points. If Liverpool loses their final match, or if Bournemouth wins both of their remaining games, the defending champion side will drop to the sixth position. The team finishing sixth in the league will play in the Europa League.
