“Out or Six? Controversy over Boundary Catch”

The incident occurred during a Bengaluru vs Hyderabad match on March 29. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis caught a ball hit by Hyderabad batsman Heinrich Klaasen near the boundary line. The catch sparked a huge controversy because du Plessis’ foot appeared to touch the boundary rope or the advertising cushion while catching the ball.

According to cricket rules, a fielder must have full control of the ball and must not have any part of his body touching the boundary line for the catch to be valid. If the foot touches the rope, the ball should be considered a six.

The third umpire ruled the catch valid and gave the batsman out. This decision has caused widespread dissatisfaction among fans and experts, who argue that the catch should have been deemed a six due to the boundary contact.

The debate highlights the importance of strict adherence to boundary catch regulations in cricket, emphasizing that celebrations should only happen after confirming full control and no boundary contact.
