Honda Cars is aiming for a strong push in the Indian market, planning to launch 10 new models by 2030. The company recently unveiled the O Alpha Electric SUV concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, which is central to its EV strategy for India.
Currently, Honda Cars India offers three models: City, Amaze, and Elevate. Company officials noted that they are closely tracking market trends and consumer preferences. Of the 10 upcoming products, seven will be SUVs across various segments and fuel types. The O Series will feature three EVs—a pair of SUVs and a saloon—with the O Alpha targeted at India and other Asian markets. Honda plans to manufacture this SUV in India and export it, with a market launch expected by the end of FY2027. The larger 0 Series SUV is aimed at the US market. Battery cells for the O Alpha will be sourced from CATL’s Indonesia facility.
Honda also plans to enter the sub-4 metre SUV segment, taking advantage of the revised GST structure. Other launches will include global models as CBUs, potentially including performance variants. Despite past sales dips, Honda sold 68,650 units in India in 2024 and remains committed to regaining market share through this product push.
