Former Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr K. M. Bujarbaruah has been inducted into the eight-member Empowered Committee constituted by the Union Agriculture Minister to oversee the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s (ICAR) National Agriculture Science Fund. The committee has been formed to guide the strategic direction and governance of the fund, which supports agricultural research and innovation across the country.
Dr Bujarbaruah’s appointment further strengthens his role in India’s agricultural research landscape. Earlier this year, in March, he was nominated to the National Steering Committee for the SEHAT programme, a joint initiative of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and ICAR. The programme was formally launched on May 11 by the Union Ministers for Agriculture and Health to promote collaboration in agriculture and public health.
According to an official press release, Dr Bujarbaruah is also serving on several Research Advisory Committees of ICAR institutes in New Delhi. His continued involvement in key national committees reflects his extensive experience and expertise in agricultural education, research, and policy development.
His induction into the Empowered Committee is expected to contribute significantly to advancing scientific research, innovation, and sustainable agricultural development in India through the effective implementation of the National Agriculture Science Fund.
