In a supportive initiative for small tea growers, the Assam Government’s Directorate of Tea distributed two vehicles for transporting green tea leaves in Dhekiajuli, aided by a 75% government subsidy under the Tea Cess Policy, 2017. Local MLA Ashok Singhal presented the vehicles to the Nava Dhekiajuli Tea Producer Company Limited and the Kanchenjunga Small Tea Growers’ Association during a program in Mijibari Gaon Panchayat. Singhal highlighted the State Government’s initiative to support small tea growers in Assam, acknowledging their crucial role in the economy and ensuring continued government assistance.
He emphasized the importance of improved irrigation facilities for the benefit of small tea plantations and encouraged responsible use of transportation vehicles designated for green tea leaves. The meeting, led by local association officials, included insights from Ishan Baruah on the scheme’s objectives. Dhekiajuli Anchalik Panchayat president Hemanta Deka, along with BJP officials and local representatives, attended a program featuring over 50 small tea growers from the Dhekiajuli area.
