Tinsukia District Team Excels In State Fencing

Excellent performance in individual events; Runners-up in team events. Under the initiative of the Assam Fencing Association, the 28th and 29th State Senior and Junior Fencing Championships were held at Bokakhat recently. The Tinsukia district team achieved significant success by winning several medals.
Notable Winners: The athletes from Tinsukia who brought glory to the district include:
Junior Category : Gold: Harshvardhan Singh, Sayantani Baruah, Haripriya Gogoi. Silver: Junior Roy, Haripriya Gogoi (in a separate event), Madhusmita Sonowal.
Bronze: Deepshikha Ghosh, Harshvardhan Singh (in a separate event). Senior Category: Gold: Pratik Kumar Gope, Captain Ishi Lamba (Individual), Tanu Shree Saikia, Krishna Sonowal, Sweta Borgohain. Silver: Captain Ishi Lamba (Individual), Sayantani Baruah. Bronze: Captain Ishi Lamba (Individual), Sayantani Baruah (Individual).
In the Team Events, the Tinsukia Women’s Team (comprising Sweta, Ishi, Junior, and Tanu) won the Gold Medal. Additionally, the Senior Men’s and Women’s teams secured multiple Silver and Bronze medals across various categories.
The Tinsukia District Fencing Association’s officials, including President Deepen Moran and Secretary Bhumidhar Choudhury, congratulated the athletes on their total haul of 14 medals and praised their high level of skill and dedication.
