Sonitpur District-Level Chess Competition Concludes with Thrilling Matches

The Sonitpur District-Level Chess Competition, held at the Assam Valley Senior Secondary School in Tezpur, concluded successfully yesterday with a prize distribution ceremony. According to Simanta Das, Secretary of the Sonitpur District Chess Association, a total of 153 chess players of different ages showcased their skills in the competition.
The event featured several categories, including Under-7 (Open and Girls), Under-9 (Open and Girls), Under-11 (Open and Girls), Under-13 (Open and Girls), Under-15 (Open and Girls), Women’s, and Open categories. Lakshyajyoti Saikia served as the chief arbiter, assisted by Jyotirmoy Borah.
The prize distribution ceremony held yesterday evening was attended by distinguished guests, including: Girish Borah, President of the Sonitpur District Chess Association. Abhijit Kalita, Managing Director of Assam Valley Senior Secondary School.
Debangan Das, Assistant Commissioner. Mukul Deka, Vice President. Dulmoni Nath, Principal of Tezpur Law College.
Notably, the top four players from each category have earned the opportunity to participate directly in the upcoming All Assam Inter-District Chess Competition. Winners were honored with certificates and trophies, while all participants received certificates of participation.
