Rahul Challenges Modi Again for Public Debate; Special Message to Amit Shah Reminding Him of Home Minister’s Duties

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has once again challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a public debate. The Congress leader urged Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and convince the Prime Minister to accept this challenge.

Notably, a day earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah had invited Rahul Gandhi for an open discussion in Parliament regarding objections raised about the Special Summary Revision (SSR) process of the voter list. Shah had also assured that if Congress officially requested it, a special session of Parliament could be convened.

However, rejecting Amit Shah’s suggestion, Rahul Gandhi remained firm on his stance of having a face-to-face debate with Prime Minister Modi. Addressing Amit Shah via social media, the Congress leader wrote, “Do not distract Modi Ji. Convince him to sit for a public debate with me at any platform and at any time.”

Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Karnal, Haryana, Amit Shah accused the Congress of avoiding parliamentary discussion. Stating that Parliament is the only appropriate forum for representatives to discuss, Shah suggested Rahul Gandhi write directly to the Prime Minister in this regard.

On the other hand, opposition parties have continued their protests over the fear of eligible voters being removed from the voter list during the revision process. While the opposition has raised the issue both on the streets and in the House, the BJP has supported the entire process as a constructive step towards making the voter list free of fake voters.
