Photo Craze Claims Life: Pune Man, 26, Plunges 400 Ft at Lohagad Fort; Rescue Took 3 Hours

A desire to take a photo turned fatal for a young man. While on an outing with his fiancée, 26-year-old Ketan Vishal Agarwal fell into a nearly 400-foot deep gorge while trying to take a photo and met with an untimely death. The tragic incident took place at Lohagad Fort in Maval tehsil of Pune district, Maharashtra.

Ketan Agarwal, associated with his family’s real estate business, was a resident of the Gahunje area of Pune. His wedding was scheduled for November this year.

According to police, Ketan had gone to Lohagad Fort on Thursday morning with his fiancée and two other friends on the occasion of his fiancée’s upcoming birthday. While taking photos in the hilly section of the fort, he lost his balance amid strong winds and fell into the gorge.

Lonavala Rural Police Station Inspector Dinesh Tayde said that strong winds were blowing in the area at the time of the incident. Upon receiving information, police and the Shivdurga Mitra Emergency Rescue Team launched a rescue operation.

It took the rescue team nearly three hours to recover Ketan’s body from the difficult terrain. The body was later sent by police for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case of accidental death regarding the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
