Two-time Olympic medalist Indian shooter Manu Bhaker faced another setback in her Asian Games campaign. The experienced shooter had to exit the competition empty-handed after failing to qualify for the final of the women’s 25m air pistol event. On the other hand, Esha Singh has kept India’s medal hopes alive by securing her place in the Final-8. In the competition held on Monday, Manu Bhaker could only manage a score of 579, resulting in an 11th-place finish and ending her run for the final. Having previously finished fifth in the 10m air pistol event, this Asian Games has proven to be highly disappointing for Manu. In the team category, Rahi Sarnobat’s underwhelming performance significantly hampered India’s medal prospects. Sarnobat scored only 39 in the fourth series and finished in 30th place with a total score of 568. Consequently, the Indian team was completely knocked out of the medal race. Currently, Esha Singh (score 580) remains India’s final hope after qualifying for the final.
