Manab Deka Urges Adani, Ambani to Invest in Assam, Highlights Semiconductor and MRO Growth Vision

Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka on Tuesday participated in the discussion on the Assam Budget during the 16th Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, highlighting the state government’s initiatives in the semiconductor industry and the Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Deka said the government’s vision for the semiconductor sector would open new avenues for industrial growth in Assam.

Describing semiconductors as the “fuel of the 21st century,” Deka said their importance today exceeds the role petroleum played in the 20th century. He noted that the government’s efforts to create a conducive ecosystem for semiconductor manufacturing would benefit several allied industries that depend on the sector. Referring to global manufacturing trends, he said countries such as China and Taiwan had once emerged as global leaders in electronics because of their strong semiconductor ecosystem.

Targeting the Opposition, Deka alleged that those who livestream protests against development projects from Guwahati’s Ganeshguri simultaneously accuse the government of failing to bring development to the state. He said the Opposition should clarify its stand and, if it genuinely supports industrial growth, should act as ambassadors for the semiconductor industry, naming Leader of the Opposition Wajed Ali Choudhury and MLA Akhil Gogoi.

The BJP legislator also thanked the state government for curbing insurgency in Assam but called for action against what he described as “intellectual terrorism.” Alleging that some individuals spread misinformation through social media platforms, Deka claimed such activities create fear among investors and tourists while damaging Assam’s image before the global business community.

Appealing to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to attract major industrialists such as Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani to invest in Assam, Deka said he would accord them a traditional welcome if they visited his constituency, Lakhimpur. He also stressed the need to expand investment across multiple sectors to accelerate the state’s economic growth.
