Olympic medalist and Assam’s pride Lovlina Borgohain has brought glory to the nation and the state by securing a medal in the boxing competition at the Asian Games. In a one-sided 75kg category quarter-final match held on Monday, Lovlina defeated South Korea’s Seong Suyeon with a 5-0 margin. With this victory, Lovlina has entered the semi-finals and ensured at least a bronze medal for India. Notably, this is Lovlina’s second consecutive medal at the Asian Games; she clinched a silver medal in the previous edition. This success reaffirms Lovlina as one of the most successful athletes in the Indian boxing contingent, joining three other Indian boxers—Parveen Hooda (65kg), Ankur Panghal (80kg), and Narender Berwal (+90kg)—who have already secured their spots in the semi-finals.
