Handique Girls’ College Crowned Best Institution at All Assam Taekwondo with 17-Medal Haul

The historic Handique Girls’ College of the city has won the honor of being the best educational institution in the All Assam Inter-Institutional Taekwondo Tournament. In achieving this feat, Handique Girls’ College bagged a total of 17 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 10 bronze.
In the tournament—organized under the initiative of Cotton University and in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam—the host, Cotton University, secured the honor of the second-best educational institution. In doing so, Cotton clinched a total of 15 medals, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze.
Around 275 competitors from 60 colleges and universities across the state participated in the tournament, which concluded successfully at the Dr. Tao Ao Indoor Stadium of Cotton University. Students ranging from Higher Secondary to Post-Graduate levels participated in the Junior and Senior categories of the Kyorugi discipline.
Dr. Prasanta Sarma, former Director of Student Welfare at Cotton University, and Dr. Jagadindra Chandra Das, current Director of Student Welfare at Cotton University, were present as chief guests at the concluding ceremony. During the event, 20 Taekwondo technical officials and judges were also felicitated.
