The Dibrugarh district team has won the best team title at the 4th State Open Karate Tournament, organized by the Shotokan Karate Do Sports Association (SKSA).
In the competition held at the indoor stadium of C.K.B. College in Teok, Dibrugarh secured the first position with 24 gold medals. In contrast, Dergaon Ashihara Karate School took second place with 14 gold medals, and the Oil India Club claimed the third spot with 13 gold medals.
More than 300 competitors from nearly 20 districts of the state participated in the event. The closing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the President of the Jorhat District Karate Association and MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, Secretary Palash Bora, Treasurer Tridip Gogoi, Registrar of Dibrugarh University Paramanand Sonowal, and the State President of SKSA Ananta Krishna Gogoi.
At the beginning of the event, an earthen lamp was lit before a portrait of artist Zubeen Garg. The opening and closing ceremonies were hosted by Vishnu Prasad Sharma, the National Secretary of SKSA.
