Japan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic ties with Assam despite the cancellation of Japanese Prime Minister’s proposed visit due to unforeseen circumstances.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on X that Japanese Ambassador to India, H.E. Keiichi Ono, spoke to him over the phone and reiterated Japan’s keen interest in investing in the state.
According to the chief minister, Japan remains committed to deepening its partnership with Assam under India’s Act East Policy. The two sides are expected to collaborate in key sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, infrastructure development, manufacturing and entrepreneurship.
Several Japanese companies have also expressed interest in investing in Assam, a move expected to boost industrial growth, attract fresh investments and generate employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Sarma said the proposed investments would open new avenues for employment and urged the younger generation to equip themselves with technical skills instead of relying solely on academic degrees. He emphasised that hard work, discipline, perseverance and skill development would enable Assam’s youth to benefit from the emerging opportunities.
The chief minister said he was delighted to share the positive development with the people of Assam following his conversation with the Japanese envoy.
