On May 16, a cancer screening program was launched at the Palashbari State Dispensary under the joint initiative of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) and the multinational company Sun Pharma. Emphasizing corporate social responsibility, the multinational company Sun Pharma provided financial assistance to the Assam Cancer Care Foundation to launch this early cancer screening program. The initiative aims to detect cancer early and raise public awareness regarding precautions, specifically targeting oral cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer.
The program, anchored by Assam Cancer Care Foundation employee Niranjan Saikia, was attended by Dr. Ajit Das, Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup Rural District. Dr. (Colonel) Syed Iftikhar Suhani was present on behalf of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation and delivered a detailed speech on cancer awareness, symptoms, precautions, and the foundation’s screening initiatives. Sun Pharma’s Zonal Head Dr. Ranjit Mahapatra and employee Abhash Chauhan spoke about the financial assistance provided by Sun Pharma to the Assam Cancer Care Foundation for public screening as part of their social responsibility.
Amiya Kalita, President of the Palashbari State Dispensary Management Committee, also addressed the gathered public. The launch event was attended by Sun Pharma’s Chief Human Resources Officer David Singh, Quality Chief Atul Vijay Bargiya, Senior Medical Officer of Kamrup Rural District Dr. Gargaram Mali, Dr. Rima Das, Medical Officer of Palashbari State Dispensary Dr. Smita Das, and Assam Cancer Care Foundation employees Jantu De, Sanyukta Kashyap, Deepamani Sarma, Bebika Tanti, and Dr. Deepadhita Borah. Shahnaz Begum, Palashbari Village Head Jiten Kalita, ASHA workers, hospital staff, and more than a hundred locals were also present at the screening event.
