On the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the founding General Secretary of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a tribute programme was organised at the State BJP office this morning.
Party leaders offered floral tributes at his portrait and paid their profound respects. BJP Assam Pradesh state vice president Ashok Bhattaray, former MP Queen Oja, senior leader Pradip Thakuria, and office secretary Sushanta Biswas were present at the programme.
In a press statement, BJP Assam Pradesh spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami said, “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya not only strengthened the Bharatiya Jana Sangh organisationally but also presented a fundamental vision for the direction of development in independent India. His philosophy of Integral Humanism does not view a human being merely as an economic or political entity. Instead, it seeks the path to human welfare through the integrated development of the body, mind, intellect and soul.”
Goswami said that Antyodaya, the welfare of the person standing at the last mile of society, is a central idea of this philosophy. According to Deendayal Upadhyaya, the benefits of development must reach every individual. Along with ensuring access to education, healthcare, livelihoods and opportunities for a dignified life, society must also create an environment that enables individuals to develop their capabilities and creativity.
He further said, “Deendayal Upadhyaya emphasised mutual cooperation and a sense of integration among the individual, family, society and the nation. Through his ideas of Swadeshi and decentralisation, he called for building the economy and technology in accordance with the needs of the country. His thoughts on the judicious use of natural resources, elimination of social inequality, and an ethical foundation for public life remain relevant even today.”
On the occasion of his birth anniversary, BJP Assam Pradesh remembered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s sacrifices, commitment to ideals, and unwavering dedication to the service of the nation. The party reaffirmed its resolve to take his thoughts and philosophy to a wider section of society and remain committed to social service guided by the ideals of Antyodaya and social integration.
