Assam tops country in resolving NFSA and CPGRAMS grievances in first quarter of 2026-27

Assam has emerged as the top-performing state in the country in resolving public grievances under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) during the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, reflecting the state’s efforts to strengthen public service delivery and improve governance.Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the achievement was the result of a robust Public Distribution System (PDS) and an efficient grievance redressal mechanism that has enabled the government to respond to citizens’ concerns in a timely manner.

According to the Chief Minister, Assam disposed of the highest number of grievances under both the NFSA and CPGRAMS during the April-June quarter of the current financial year. Based on its performance, the state received an “Excellent” assessment from the Government of India for resolving public grievances.Highlighting the significance of the achievement, Sarma said the government has consistently worked to make the grievance redressal system more accessible, transparent and responsive so that beneficiaries of ration and welfare schemes receive timely support. He said the administration remains committed to ensuring that public complaints are addressed without unnecessary delay. “We hear your issues, we solve them,” the Chief Minister said while reaffirming the government’s commitment to prompt and effective grievance resolution for beneficiaries covered under the public distribution system and other welfare programmes.

The National Food Security Act provides subsidised food grains to eligible households through the Public Distribution System, while the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System serves as the Centre’s online platform for citizens to lodge complaints related to government departments and public services.
