Assam CM asks officials to remain vigilant to prevent abnormal price rise

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the state government is taking steps to prevent abnormal or artificial increase in commodity prices.
“Our government is keeping a close eye on the market and will not allow any unfair price rise. II have instructed officials in every district to keep a tab on prices of items and take stringent actions against any defaulter,” Sarma said after reviewing the price monitoring mechanism for essential commodities in the State.
He asked the concerned officials to take strict steps to ensure market stability and prevent any abnormal price rise.
Sarma directed the DC-led District Monitoring Committees to convene within the next 3-4 days and ensure mandatory display of retail and wholesale prices at all shops and wholesale outlets.
He asked the authorities to take strict action, including cancellation of trade licences, against thise who indulges in abnormal pricing
Sarma said that there should be weekly review meetings between DCs, chambers of commerce and other trade bodies and intensive field-level monitoring to detect and prevent unusual price escalation.
He also ordered expeditious Aadhaar seeding of PM Ujjwala beneficiaries to eliminate duplicity in LPG cylinder distribution.
