At 103, Kanaklata Das of Majroumari village in Chirajuli, Sonitpur, has set an inspiring example of compassion by extending financial assistance to families affected by the recent floods in Sivasagar. After learning about the hardships faced by residents of the Amguri Bagan area, Das visited the Sivasagar District Commissioner’s office on August 17 and met District Commissioner Mridul Yadav. She donated Rs 2,000 each to 77 flood-affected families from her lifelong savings.
