AIIMS Guwahati has inaugurated new specialty wards and expanded its inpatient healthcare facilities, marking a major step towards strengthening tertiary healthcare services in the Northeast region.
The institute inaugurated a dedicated 55-bed IPD ward, which includes ophthalmology beds, along with newly established inpatient facilities for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Pulmonary Medicine and Dental services.
The new facilities were inaugurated by Prof (Col) Ashok Puranik in the presence of the Medical Superintendent, Heads of Departments, faculty members, nursing officers and other staff members of the institute.
With the latest expansion, AIIMS Guwahati has increased its inpatient bed strength from 387 to 442 beds.
The institute stated that the augmentation reflects its continued commitment towards enhancing patient care capacity, improving accessibility to specialised healthcare services and advancing state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for the people of the Northeast.
According to officials, the newly inaugurated facilities are expected to streamline multidisciplinary clinical services, strengthen advanced patient management and reinforce the institute’s vision of delivering accessible, affordable, high-quality and patient-centric healthcare across the region.
