Toyota’s skill development push in Mizoram: A strategic move for economic growth

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in partnership with the Government of Mizoram and Zote Toyota, has launched its 67th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) and the STAR Scholarship Initiative at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Aizawl. This initiative aims to empower students, particularly from rural areas, with technical skills, enhancing their employability in the automotive sector.

The T-TEP facility will offer specialized training in Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Diesel Mechanic trades, providing hands-on experience and exposure to advanced automotive technologies. The STAR Scholarship Program, supporting economically disadvantaged students, offers scholarships of up to ₹51,000 per year.

The program holds significant promise for regions like Dibrugarh, where the automotive industry is seeing rapid growth. With increasing vehicle ownership and service demands, the need for skilled technicians is on the rise. Graduates from T-TEP will be well-positioned to meet this demand, ensuring long-term career opportunities while addressing the skill gap in the region’s automotive sector.Speaking at the launch, TKM’s Executive VP, Vikram Gulati, highlighted the company’s commitment to bridging the education-employability gap. With over 13,000 students trained, TKM continues to drive skill development across India, supporting the nation’s “Skill India” mission.
