Samsung India has announced the top 20 semi-finalists for its ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ 2024 CSR programme, featuring Team ‘Hemanta’ from Kamrup Rural, Assam. The programme, now in its third edition, aims to empower youth to address real-world challenges through technology.
The top 20 teams, comprising 51 students from across the country, will attend a curated Innovation Walk at Samsung offices and R&D centres. The teams represent diverse geographies, including remote locations such as Imphal in Manipur, East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.The shortlisted ideas reflect significant societal concerns, with 25% of the youth track focusing on water conservation and pollution, and 20% of the school track targeting digital literacy gaps. “This year’s programme emphasizes participation from remote regions, showcasing a broad geographic representation,” said SP Chun, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia.
These semi-finalists will compete at IIT Delhi, vying for grants and Samsung products to enhance their prototypes. Winners will be titled “Community Champions” and “Environment Champions,” receiving substantial grants for further development.“Some ideas are truly inspiring and promising, set to boost the start-up ecosystem in the country,” added Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, MD, FITT, IIT-Delhi.
