Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited has announced the expansion of its monsoon healthcare support services in Assam, strengthening access to Home Healthcare and Virtual Doctor Consultations as seasonal cases of dengue, malaria, fever and other infectious diseases rise across the state.
The company said its FY25-26 data recorded a sixteen-fold increase in Home Healthcare utilisation for fever and infectious diseases in Assam, while its recently launched Virtual OPD service has witnessed strong adoption nationwide, with more customers opting for virtual consultations as their first point of medical care.
As part of the initiative, policyholders can access the ‘Talk to Star’ helpline at 7200 222 333, pressing 1 for Home Healthcare and 2 for planned hospitalisation support. The service offers guidance on cashless claims, network hospitals, required documentation and treatment pathways. Eligible policyholders can also receive cashless Home Healthcare, including doctor-prescribed nursing care, blood tests, IV fluids, injections and patient monitoring at home. Non-policyholders can access free 24/7 Virtual Doctor Consultations through the Star Health Customer app.
Business Head (Northeast) Amitabh Chatterjee said the initiative aims to promote early medical intervention and improve healthcare access, particularly for children, senior citizens and patients who may find hospital visits difficult during the monsoon.
Citing the National Statistical Office’s 2026 survey, the company noted that average private hospitalisation costs stand at ₹52,766 in rural Assam and ₹79,406 in urban Assam, highlighting the importance of timely and accessible healthcare. Star Health said the expanded outreach is designed to help families seek medical advice early, reduce treatment delays and improve patient care during the monsoon season.
