Precision Strikes Hit ULFA (I) Camps In Myanmar, Assam On High Alert

Sunday’s aerial strikes by Indian forces inside Myanmar appear to have precisely hit ULFA(I) camps, judging by the extent of reported damage. The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) confirmed on Monday that drone attacks targeted Hoyat and Pangsau in Myanmar early Sunday, though they did not reveal any casualties. Meanwhile, the PLA claimed no losses on their side.

Sources indicated that nearby insurgent camps, including NSCN-K (Angmai faction) and NSCN-IM’s ‘Veda Peace Mission Command’, were not affected, suggesting the strikes focused solely on ULFA(I). The ULFA(I) stated three members were killed and 19 injured, but Indian agencies have yet to confirm these figures.

The Pangsau area, mainly controlled by NSCN(K) Yung Aung—a known ULFA(I) ally—also saw targeted strikes. Funerals for the deceased were reportedly held.

In response, Assam security forces are on high alert, anticipating possible retaliation. The operation reportedly followed intelligence suggesting ULFA(I) was regrouping. Notably, in May, Tinsukia police arrested the outfit’s operational commander, leading to a major arms recovery.
