NSF Urges Early Conclusion to Naga Peace Talks

The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the Central government to take forward the ongoing Naga peace talks with sincerity and work towards an early and logical conclusion to the decades-old political issue.The demand was made during a meeting between an NSF delegation and Ajit Lal, Advisor (Northeast) to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in New Delhi on Thursday.According to a statement issued by the federation, the delegation stressed that the peace process should remain sensitive to the aspirations and sentiments of the Naga people while working towards an early political settlement.

The NSF said a timely resolution of the Naga political issue is essential for ensuring lasting peace, stability and development in the region. The student body reiterated its longstanding position that the peace talks should reach a meaningful conclusion at the earliest.During the meeting, the federation also expressed concern over the prevailing violence and unrest in the region, particularly the Naga-Kuki conflict. The delegation called for immediate steps to restore peace and normalcy and highlighted the need to protect the interests and security of the people affected by the ongoing tensions.

Ajit Lal, who is also a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, heard the concerns raised by the delegation during the discussion. According to the NSF, the MHA advisor assured the delegation that the issues raised during the meeting would be given due consideration and looked into by the concerned authorities.
