Mika said Diljit Dosanjh found success because of Daler Mehndi’s stardom: ‘Pagri ki shaan unke baad hi badi hai’

In a recent interview, Mika called his brother Daler Mehndi the OG artist who made Punjabi music internationally famous.

Diljit Dosanjh has become a global name with his superhit songs, successful concerts and critically acclaimed films. The singer-actor has become the pride of the Punjabi music industry. However, according to singer Mika Singh, his elder brother Daler Mehndi is the person who paved the way for every Punjabi singer. In an interview with The Lallantop, Mika called Daler ‘dadaji’ whose presence has helped current singers like Diljit.

During the candid conversation, Mika said, “Diljit is definitely doing well. Ask me why? Because first Dadaji has come. Who is Dadaji? Daler Mehndi. The glory of the turban has increased only after him in the industry. There were many Punjabi singers before him.” He further said, ”After Daler paji came in the industry, he also worked with Mr Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan).

He opened a path not only for himself, but for me and all of us. If you ask him, he will agree with me.” The Mauja Hi Mauja singer gave the example of singer-dancer Michael Jackson and said, ”For example, Michael Jackson is not alive today, but we all respect him and copy his steps and style. Because we don’t know what to do after this. Uske Aage Liye Hum Dono Bhai Baitha Hai, Ki Bhaiya Yeh Kar Sakte Ho Tum.

So, there should be someone in the journey to show you the way. And Daler paji has opened all new paths.

Having said this, Mika praised Diljit And he even said that he has visited Mika’s recording studio many times. He said, “Diljit is a very good singer and I am his fan. We are not really friends, but he is like my younger brother.

He has recorded in my studio many times. I have even heard that he comes to Mumbai in an auto to record. Whenever we meet, we meet with love. I really like that he is taking our Punjabi culture forward and earning a name all over the world while keeping the pride of our turban.”
