On Monday, a severe accident occurred in Ramnagar, Digboi, when an oil tanker with registration AS07 C 5132 exploded during welding repairs at a local garage.
The blast happened while maintenance welding was underway on the tanker. Two people were seriously injured—Sunil Bora, the driver aged 51, and Umesh Singh, a 46-year-old mechanic—suffering significant injuries to their faces and bodies.
Thankfully, other workers present at the site escaped without harm.
Initial investigations indicate that the explosion resulted from a blatant disregard for safety rules and unauthorized repair work on the highly flammable tanker. The vehicle reportedly hails from Doymukh, Lakhimpur.
Police from Digboi promptly responded to the incident, and the injured men were quickly transported to Dibrugarh for advanced medical care.
