Authorities from the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve’s Eastern Range, Gamiri, and Crime Investigation Range, Biswanath Chariali, have captured a fugitive suspect in the illicit trade of Royal Bengal tiger body parts. Ratnakanta Pegu (41), a native of Aathaishsharia village in Biswanath district, was captured by the investigating team based on intelligence inputs.According to official sources, Pegu has been at large since November 2025 in relation to the case ER/02-2025.The accused has a history of involvement in rhino poaching cases between 2019 and 2024, according to officials.The case is currently being investigated further.
