Field Day Promotes Sustainable Muga and Eri Sericulture in Kokrajhar A Field Day on “Sustainable and Adaptive On-Farm Practices for Muga and Eri Sericulture” was organised in Kokrajhar, Assam, under the Mera Resham Mera Abhimaan (MRMA) 2.0 initiative. The programme was organised by the Central Silk Board’s Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organisation, P-3 Unit, Kowabil, with the aim of strengthening farmers’ knowledge of improved and sustainable sericulture practices. The initiative focused on bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and field-level practices by providing practical guidance on modern technologies for Muga and Eri silkworm rearing. Farmers were encouraged to adopt sustainable, adaptive and scientifically recommended on-farm methods to improve crop performance and minimise losses. The programme also highlighted the importance of better rearing practices in enhancing the quality and productivity of silk. Such field-level initiatives are expected to support farmers in adopting improved technologies and contribute to the sustainable development of Muga and Eri sericulture in the region.
