Khowang’s Bristi Sonowal Crowned Best Player at South Asian Micro Futsal Championship

Bristi Sonowal, a talented player from Khowang, has achieved the honor of being named the Best Player at the South Asian Micro Futsal Championship held in Nepal. Organized by the South Asian Micro Futsal Association, the 6th South Asian Micro Futsal Cup was a four-day tournament held in Pokhara, Nepal, starting from May 11, where Bristi Sonowal and Nitumoni Gogoi represented the Indian national team.
Bristi Sonowal is the only daughter of Dhrubajyoti Saikia and Swadha Saikia, residents of Atharabari village under Khowang in Dibrugarh district. Nitumoni Gogoi is the daughter of Raju Gogoi and Edina Gogoi, residents of Changmai village in Kathalguri, Khowang. Due to their excellent performances in this tournament, both have secured their spots in the Indian national team to play in the upcoming World Cup.
By bringing glory to the entire state, these two talented players demonstrated extraordinary sporting skills and brought immense pride to the state’s sports arena. Hailing from farming families, both players have managed to reach this level today through their sheer dedication and hard work. After making a mark on the international stage, the two players received a warm welcome from various organizations and local residents upon arriving at their respective homes.
Their families, fellow villagers, the Khowang Sports Association, and the entire sports community are ecstatic over this success. Everyone expressed hope that both players will maintain their consistency in the upcoming World Cup and continue to bring a good reputation to the country and the state.
