India’s EV Revolution Gains Speed: Sales Jump 75% in April

India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is revving up, with sales soaring by 75% in April, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). The country witnessed a significant surge in EV adoption, with 23,506 units sold last month, a substantial jump from the 13,421 units sold in April of the previous year. Leading the charge is Tata Motors, which sold a impressive 8,543 electric vehicles in April, marking a notable increase from the 4,822 units sold in the same period last year. Mahindra & Mahindra follows closely, selling 5,413 EVs, while JSW MG Motor India takes the third spot with 5,006 EVs sold.
The electric two-wheeler segment is also gaining traction, with 1,48,740 units sold in April, representing a 60.73% growth from the 92,538 units sold in April of the previous year. This remarkable growth underscores India’s shifting gears towards sustainable transportation, driven by increasing consumer demand and supportive government policies. As the market continues to accelerate, industry experts predict a bright future for electric mobility in India.
