Indian weightlifters delivered a stellar performance on the second day of the ongoing Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships and the associated Universal Cup (Senior) in Apia, Samoa, winning four gold medals.
The Gold Medalists: Sunil Singh (65 kg Men’s Category): Won gold by lifting a total of 271 kg (126 kg in Snatch and 145 kg in Clean & Jerk). Esangfa Gogoi (58 kg Women’s Category): Secured gold with a total lift of 185 kg (79 kg in Snatch and 106 kg in Clean & Jerk). Abhinav Gogoi (71 kg Men’s Category): Claimed gold by lifting a total of 284 kg (129 kg in Snatch and 155 kg in Clean & Jerk). Charu Pesi (65 kg Men’s Category – Universal Cup): Representing Arunachal Pradesh, Pesi won gold in the Universal Cup by lifting a total of 289 kg (127 kg in Snatch and 162 kg in Clean & Jerk).
Sahdev Yadav, President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF), congratulated the athletes, coaches, and support staff for their magnificent performance in the tournament. In his congratulatory message, Yadav stated:”These achievements reflect the hard work and commitment of our athletes and the support team.”
