HDFC ERGO Implements PMFBY for Kharif Season in Assam

HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, a prominent Indian insurance firm, has been granted permission by the Government of Assam to execute the PradhanMantriFasalBimaYojana (PMFBY) for loanee and non-loanee farmers in the districts ofCachar, Lakhimpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri for Kharif 2024. The Government of Assam has announced a scheme to implement crop-specific cut-off dates in various districts for certain crops.

The PMFBY scheme insulates farmers from crop yield losses due to various external risks, including drought, floods, landslides, cyclones, hurricanes, hailstorms, inundations, pests, and diseases. The state government conducts Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) to determine the loss in yield. If yield data is low, farmers are considered to have suffered a shortfall in their yield, and claims will be payable.

The scheme covers all stages of the crop cycle, including pre-sowing, harvesting, and post-harvest risks. All products under the PMFBY scheme are approved by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam. Farmers from Cachar, Lakhimpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri can reach out to their respective banks, Common Service Centres (CSCs) in their district or contact the authorised HDFC ERGO agents to obtain the insurance cover under the PMFBY scheme. The validity period for insurance cover details can be found on the Department of Agriculture’s website. The farmers can login to the Farmers App or opt for self-enrollment of the scheme on the website https://pmfby.gov.in/farmerLogin
