GST collection upgrade 7.5% to ₹1.96 lakh crore in July

New Delhi, Gross GST collections rose 7.5 percent to around Rs 1.96 lakh crore in July due to an increase in domestic revenue.

Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections stood at Rs 1.82 lakh crore in July 2024. The collection was Rs 1.84 lakh crore in the previous month.

Gross domestic revenue rose 6.7 percent to Rs 1.43 lakh crore, while import taxes rose 9.5 percent to Rs 52,712 crore.

GST refunds rose 66.8 per cent year-on-year to Rs 27,147 crore.

Net GST revenue stood at Rs 1.69 lakh crore in July 2025, showing a growth of 1.7 percent year-on-year.

Saurabh Agarwal, Tax Partner, EY India, said that despite some global pressures and temporary downturns, the overall trend reflects stable consumption patterns and continued growth rate of the economy.

“The government’s timely refund process is also very helpful for businesses, as it ensures that they have the required working capital available,” Agarwal said.
