In early trade on Wednesday, September 23, domestic and international futures markets saw gold prices fall marginally while silver moved higher. MCX gold with an October 5 expiry fell by Rs 167 to an early low of Rs 1,52,549 per 10 grams from its previous close of Rs 1,52,716, while MCX silver futures maturing on December 4 rose by Rs 1,489 to an intraday high of Rs 2,41,377 per kilogram compared to the last close of Rs 2,39,888. As the session progressed, gold turned flat while silver gave up some of its initial gains, with MCX gold trading at Rs 1,52,793, higher by Rs 77 or 0.05 percent, and MCX silver quoted at Rs 2,40,875, up by Rs 987 or 0.41 percent at the time of writing. Simultaneously, international Comex data revealed that gold prices slipped marginally by 0.05% to $4,374.10 per ounce, whereas silver prices strengthened by 0.74% to trade at $67.025 per ounce. Following suit, retail bullion prices for gold across all purity grades saw slight drops in the domestic market, where 24-karat gold was priced at Rs 1,53,540 per 10 grams, 22-karat gold stood at Rs 1,40,745, 20-karat gold was recorded at Rs 1,27,950 per 10 grams, and 18-karat gold reached Rs 1,15,155 per 10 grams.
