Daily wellness routines drive rising demand for immunity products, say Nutrition experts

As seasonal changes influence health behaviour, nutritionists and healthcare professionals are increasingly highlighting everyday routines as the foundation of strong immunity, rather than short-term or one-time solutions. Experts say a winter-supportive lifestyle built around warmth, sunlight, balanced nutrition and selected herbs is emerging as a sustainable wellness model with growing consumer acceptance.

A typical immunity-focused day begins with warm water on waking and brief exposure to morning sunlight, followed by tulsi-based herbal tea for respiratory support and congestion relief. Through the day, frequent intake of warm water or herbal infusions, along with seasonal meals rich in whole grains and vegetables, helps stabilise glucose levels and support gut health. Light physical activity, including a short post-lunch walk, is also seen as a simple yet effective practice to maintain steady energy and immune resilience during colder months.

Evening routines are increasingly centred on recovery. Turmeric, consumed through food or warm drinks, supports inflammatory response and overnight repair, while adequate sleep, reduced screen exposure and basic breathing practices help the body restore cells and regulate hormones.

“Immunity is a daily practice, not a seasonal panic button,” said Ruchi Sharma, Nutritionist, in collaboration with Organic India, noting that herbs like tulsi, amla, ginger and turmeric work in rhythm with the body through winter. In Guwahati, traders report steady growth in demand for herbal teas, turmeric, ginger and immunity-supportive products during the winter months. Retailers say consumers are increasingly opting for routine-based wellness products, reflecting a broader shift towards preventive health spending and consistent lifestyle choices.
