Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Surge by ₹62.50 and More in October’s First Revision

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have experienced a notable hike effective Thursday right before the festive season, pushing the cost of a 19-kg cylinder in Delhi up by 62.50 rupees to 2,810 rupees in what is the second price increase over the past two months. The revised pricing structure impacts businesses nationwide, with Mumbai recording a new commercial cylinder price of 2,764 rupees, Chennai seeing rates climb to 2,983 rupees, and Patna registering the highest regional hike of 71.50 rupees to touch 3,100.50 rupees. While this consecutive monthly rise threatens to inflate operating costs for restaurants and commercial kitchens—likely trickling down as higher expenses for end consumers—household kitchens find considerable comfort as domestic LPG prices have been left untouched. Public sector oil companies attribute these revisions to ongoing volatility in global energy markets and elevated crude oil pressures that have forced firms to mitigate mounting financial losses, though industry insiders caution that domestic cylinders are still being sold below full market cost, leaving the door open for future price fluctuations based on global trends.
