BNP electoral victory signals positive outlook for India–Bangladesh regional trade ties: Byatikram Group

The decisive victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bangladesh’s recent parliamentary elections has generated optimism for enhanced regional economic engagement, with Guwahati-based Byatikram Group highlighting the potential for stronger India–Bangladesh trade and collaboration.

Dr. Saumen Bharatiya and Mr. Amaresh Roy, representing the Byatikram Group, extended congratulations to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for leading the BNP to a clear electoral mandate. Marking the occasion, the delegation felicitated Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati, Mr. Zikrul Hasan Fahad, describing the gesture as a symbol of goodwill, regional camaraderie, and recognition of the democratic mandate of the Bangladeshi people.

Speaking at the felicitation event, Dr. Bharatiya said the emphatic electoral outcome reflects the strength and maturity of democratic institutions in Bangladesh and provides a stable policy environment conducive to expanding bilateral cooperation across trade, healthcare, education, and cultural exchange. He noted that a stable and progressive Bangladesh plays an important role in supporting regional peace, economic stability, and cross-border market growth.

Mr. Amaresh Roy stated the importance of sustained people-to-people engagement and diplomatic cooperation, while the Byatikram Group leadership reiterated its commitment to fostering dialogue, cross-border initiatives, and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening regional development and economic connectivity.
