Bengal-Origin Muslims threatened to leave Upper Assam within 14 days

A 14-years old girl was allegedly gang-raped in Central-Assam’s Dhing. Due to which consequences has risen up for Bengal-Origin migrants Muslims, known as ‘Miyas’ in Assam.

According to the sources, 30 organisations representing indigenous communities has set a deadline for the Miyas to leave upper Assam within 14 days of the state.

Following, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF has submitted a memorandum to the Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya seeking action against several organisations.

The memorandum submitted by the AIUDF says, “It has come to our notice that some unknown organisations and fundamentalist groups have publicly issued threats against a section of the Muslim community demanding that they should leave Upper Assam immediately or face dire consequences. Such statements are not only alarming but also create a serious threat to communal harmony and safety of the community in the region.”
