Archer Makes IPL History: Takes Wicket on First Ball of Innings for Rajasthan

Rajasthan Royals’ English fast bowler Jofra Archer entered the record books by taking a wicket with the very first ball of the innings in an IPL match against Kolkata. In the match, Archer got Kolkata’s hit-flick out with his first delivery.
With this, Archer achieved the rare feat of taking a wicket on the first ball of an innings as a bowler in IPL history. It is worth mentioning that before this, India’s Mohammed Shami had set this record by dismissing a batsman on the first ball of an innings. Now Archer has added his name to that list.
“hit-flick” likely refers to a batsman dismissed, but the clipping’s phrasing is unclear — probably means he got a KKR batter out. “Mohammed Shami” is mentioned as the previous record holder for taking a wicket on the first ball of an IPL innings.
